Fretsore Records is proud to announce the signing of singer-songwriter Matt McManamon. Formerly of The Dead 60’s and The Specials, the deal comes ahead of a new single and album due this year.

McManamon shares his thoughts on the partnership: “I am delighted and thrilled to have signed with Fretsore Records, really looking forward to working with Ian Sephton and the rest of the team. I’ve been aware of Ian and his label for quite some time now, and the great work he has done with his current roster. Extremely excited to be joining the Fretsore family!”

Through his previous collaborative output, McManamon is strongly associated with ska, punk, dub and reggae. His solo work, however, is more deeply influenced by his Liverpool Irish roots than it is by sounds that originate from Kingston and The Black Ark.

Label owner Ian Sephton shares “I saw Matt McManamon perform his new songs at The Jericho Tavern in Oxford back in April 2019 and loved them. So I’m delighted that Matt has signed with us and get to help bring those great songs to a wider audience, we all very excited to be working together”.

The Dead 60s experienced a short, sharp burst of success which included two appearances on Top of The Pops and festival slots at Glastonbury and Lollapalooza. Tours with Morrissey, Kasabian and their label mates The Coral helped to establish the band and their eponymous debut album became a UK Top 40 hit – it would eventually sell over 100,000 copies.

Since disbanding, McManamon has released his debut single “Seas of Gold” in 2019. His new single, and first on Fretsore, is due this spring. For more information and to be the first to hear the new tracks, keep up with Matt on FACEBOOK TWITTER INSTAGRAM SPOTIFY APPLE MUSIC.
